We all love Helen Mirren. L’Oreal requested Helen Mirren be part of the “Because You’re Worth It” Campaign. Helen Mirren is the epitome of “Beauty”, “Style”, “Elegance” and “Authenticity”. As she explains, its a bit British to say, “accept yourself as you are and get on with it”. Helen shares in the wake of where the world is today, people are searching for what is “Authentic.”
The fact that L’Oreal chose Helen for this campaign speaks volumes. Why do we think this? Helen Mirren’s beauty is timeless. This choice allows women to see no matter what age they are, accept yourself. This new campaign also follows the stories of everyday people and allows us to see through their LENS, we are all human. Gray hair, warts and all. And Helen is a trailblazer, up on the latest trends, yet she shares she is getting older, and accepts it. She also acknowledges that as we age, we do want to look our best – even younger. L’Oreal is an accessible and affordable brand for women. So being an affordable brand and household name, L’Oreal sends a message that everyone is special.
The stories shared take you on a journey of the people going from “Self Doubt to Self Worth”. The people in these stories have such diverse backgrounds and we see ourselves in them. Stories are usually reflected back to us as we should be a particular way, but never the “HOW”. In these stories, you see the “HOW”, and can apply it to our own lives. We can see how they have overcome their challenges. And they still continue to work on themselves as we are all a work in progress.
Helen really goes into today’s elected officials to the issues LGBT teens face. One thing is for sure, this year’s theme at Cannes was “Realism” and looking inside of ourselves to discern how we approach life and our relationships.
In this way, L’Oreal lets us experience lipstick or blush as a way of bringing what’s on the inside to the outside; truly experiencing our inner beauty. The best part of this campaign is it connects all genders. Remember own your humanity, so you see the humanity in others.
