People can easily have judgments or discriminate towards other people and other cultures they don’t know or understand. When people from different backgrounds get to know each other and understand each other, the stigma and stereotypes can be reduced or eliminated. It may even open a friendship they never thought was possible.
In CUT’s video “Kids Meet a Little Person”, it shows that the children have a safe space to speak to a little person and understand her and people with her condition better. The kids were hesitant at first, but their curiosity had them speak and ask questions. The children were more comfortable as they learned more.
I believe that it’s best to teach the kids when they are young to learn about people from different ethnicities and people with disabilities. That way, the children will not judge or discriminate and there will be less racism in society.
